Medina, OH

Medina, OH

Located approximately 33 miles south of Cleveland, Medina was founded in 1818 as the county seat. It was originally designed as a New England style town around a central green-space and slowly grew into an agricultural community and as the legal hub of county business. In 1835 it was incorporated as the Village of Medina.

By 1950, Medina had grown to more than 5,000 people and became a chartered city in 1952. From 1970 to 2000, Medina’s population grew by 130% and many new buildings were built in the community including new schools, Performing Arts and Recreation Centers, an expanded library, and a parking deck. Medina offers its residents a vibrant mix of attractions, events, retail, and eateries, and welcomes thousands of visitors each year. Today, Medina is home to over 25,000 people and a myriad of local businesses.
